007. A Prologue with Thomas Jockin: The State of Design Education

A Prologue with Thomas Jockin. Thomas is the founder of TypeThursday, a lecturer at City University of New York Queens College, City College and previously at State University of New York Fashion Institute of Technology, and a practicing typeface designer with clients such as Google, Starbucks, Coca-Cola, Foot Locker, Express. Thomas received his BFA in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design - The New School and his Postgraduate Certification in Typeface Design from Cooper Union. Thomas and I talk about; design education having authority, constant flux, the critical skillset of typography, more methods more theory doesn't really work - don't forget the tools, design programs keep adding more creating students that are less prepared, while we need to create good designers we also need to create better people... and so much more!
