028. Redesigning HERstory: A Discussion with Libby Meggs & Elizabeth Meggs (S3E6)

Libby Phillips Meggs earned a BFA in art and design from Virginia Commonwealth University. She worked as an advertising art director, then went on to become a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. From childhood, Libby made up stories and illustrated them for her own amusement, finally seeing her dreams become real with the publication of Go Home! The True Story of James the Cat. She lives in Virginia where her family, cats, and flowers keep her busy when she is not writing or drawing.

Elizabeth Meggs is a Brooklyn-based artist, illustrator, writer, and designer, whose ongoing work includes paintings, photography, imagery for children, and hand-bound artist books. She graduated with a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University, and received her MFA in painting from Pratt Institute. She has worked as a graphic designer, as a writer, and as a faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University, Pratt Institute, and New York City College of Technology. Elizabeth has numerous Awards and honors in fine art, design, and writing. She has taught numerous courses in History of Communication Design, Visual Studies, and Design History, for Pratt's History of Art and Design Department, Communication Design Department, and Associate Degree Program.
