030. Redesigning HERstory: A Discussion with Gail Anderson (S3E8)

Gail Anderson is a New York-based designer, writer, and educator. She teaches in the School of Visual Arts MFA, undergraduate, and high school design programs, Director of SVA Visual Arts Press, and has served on the advisory boards for Adobe Partners by Design and the Society of Publication Designers. Anderson is the recipient of the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Medal from the AIGA, the 2009 Richard Gangel art direction award from the Society of Illustrators, and has lectured about design at organizations and conferences around the world. She has served on the board for the Type Directors Club, and is a member of the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee for the US Postal Service. At Rolling Stone magazine she held numerous positions from 1987–2002, starting as an associate and becoming senior art director. Her work has been recognized by design organizations including The Society of Publication Designers, TDC, AIGA, The Art Directors Club, Print, Graphis, HOW and Communication Arts. Anderson is a reformed collector/hoarder who now just looks but no longer buys. Currently Gail has partnered with artist and art director Joe Newton, together they are AND an acronym for ANDERSON NEWTON DESIGN, together they offering award-winning, multi-disciplinary design solutions.
