032. Redesigning HERstory: A Discussion with Carrie Smith (S3E10)

Carrie Smith is Vice President of Creative Services at Concord Records. Carrie joined Concord in 2015 as part of the company’s on-going investment in innovation and pursuit of an exceptional Art & Design department. Carrie has curated a team of highly creative, passionate and talented individuals. Her department supports each label under Concord’s Recorded Music division. Under Carrie’s leadership, the department continues to promote and inspire excellence in design. Carrie has worked with an impressive line-up of high-caliber artists over her 15-year career including St. Vincent, James Taylor, Tanya Tucker and more. Carrie’s work on the album Blood by Rhye was recently recognized with a JUNO award for Album Artwork of the Year. She, along with members of her team, received a Clio Award for Design for the Coltrane 58 vinyl packaging. Carrie’s enthusiasm for empowering others, her commitment to dynamic artistry and fostering talent are what drive her. Carrie leads her staff based on her guiding principles: treat everyone fairly, be a present listener and understand the incredible gift and responsibility that creativity has in expressing and impacting culture.
