Grimm & Grotesk
Classic fairy tales flourish in grotesque references and Grotesk typography — a direct influencer to The International Typographic Style; a theoretical connotation of the grotesque suggests an expressive bond of the bizarre between the written word and the typographic manifestation. A manifestation of the theoretical connotation of the grotesque, tell-tailing the ugly, dark, and odd written words of fairy tale’s centuries past and the absurd, disagreeable, potentially repulsive typographic manifestations of Akzidenz expressed in a regional art installation.
Grimm & Grotesk is a solo typographic exploration by Professor Peter Bella Jr. The works were on exhibition in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery at the Merillat Centre for the Arts on the Huntington University Campus during the months of March and April of 2018. An artist talk and reception took place Monday, March 20th, 6PM–8PM at the Merillat Centre for the Arts, Huntington University, Huntington, IN. Gallery View »
