037. R. Roger Remington on Teaching & Archiving Graphic Design History (S4E5)

R. Roger Remington, Vignelli Distinguished Professor of Design, Director of the Vignelli Center for Design Studies at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. Roger is a design educator, author of graphic design and graphic design history. He has been recognized with RIT’s highest recognition of teaching excellence with the Eisenhart Annual Award for Outstanding Teaching and the Trustee’s Lifetime Achievement Award for scholarship in Graphic Design. He has been inducted into the New York Art Directors Club Hall of Fame, became a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale.

Roger has been deeply envolved in the research and preservation of graphic design as well as co-chaired two symposiums on graphic design history, Coming of Age and 80’s Style. He is the author of Nine Pioneers in American Graphic Design, Lester Beall: Trailblazer of American Graphic Design, American Modernism Graphic Design 1920-1960, with other books in the works.

I am proud to call Roger a mentor, former professor, an inspiration and most of all a friend. Thank you Roger for setting the bar high and for your years of archiving and preservation of graphic design history.
